Welcome back and welcome to the new members of our Chiefs Rugby Family as we start the 2021-2022 Rugby Year!
We are hoping to have a more ‘normal’ year this year, but we will still comply with IDPH/Rugby Illinois policy where directed.
Fall has always been a developmental season for youth rugby in Illinois and this season is no different. This fall, we will be offering skills development for our Rookie Rugby and Middle School players, and our High School Girls will be taking part in the Rugby Illinois development festivals starting in a few weeks. For our High School Boys, Rugby Illinois is offering something different this year, and you should have received an email about it from Theo Gilbert, VP Competitions Rugby Illinois. If your HS Boys player is wanting to take part in the festivals this fall, please respond to Theo directly. If not, let me know and I will forward it to you.
As well as our youth players, this fall, we are offering training (and hopefully a game or two) for our adult teams. No experience necessary to join our Women’s and Men’s team. By playing rugby yourself, it is a great way to learn and understand the sport your kids are playing. Our Women’s team played their first games this summer and our average age was 37! You are never too old to play rugby, so come and give it a ‘try’ for yourself!
